Design for Dogs
Every year, Design for Dogs rallies together industry professionals to take part in a one-of-a-kind doghouse design & build competition. In the end, the impeccable doghouses are auctioned off and 100% of the proceeds go to the Arizona Animal Welfare League. Being a part of Design for Dogs is a fun and rewarding way to support AAWL in their incredible efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome over 4,000 dogs & cats every year. With the help of our wonderful community, Facings has been able to donate over $260,000 to the Arizona Animal Welfare League over the past 9 years.
Feed My Starving Children
Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization dedicated to filling the bellies and spirits of hungry children around the world. Facings invites industry partners, friends, and family to a massive food packing session at FMSC every summer. It is an especially heartwarming experience, and doing it with friends makes it that much more fun. Learn more or get involved in FMSC here.
2023 FoA Scholarship Recipients:
Beth Cochran
From a young age, I wanted to be an interior designer... But a year into my studies, I convinced myself I wasn’t any good at it so I switched majors... Two years ago, I decided to muster up the courage to make the career change. I dusted off my architectural scale and headed back to school. It’s truly been a rewarding experience thus far, albeit scary at times. Being awarded the Facings of America scholarship has been a vote of confidence that I’m headed in the right direction and I’m deeply grateful for all this amazing company does to support current and future designers.
18 EVIT Design Students
Thanks to Facings, 18 students were given scholarships to participate in a week-long interior design technology workshop for no cost. We designed the workshop to expose students without technology training to several industry software programs. Four SCC instructors facilitated the workshop, which covered AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Adobe CS. Students designed a space in CAD, built it in Sketchup, and used Photoshop and InDesign to create a presentation poster. The feedback was fantastic – every student’s technology skills dramatically improved and all reported they would be interested in a similar workshop in the future. If not for the generosity of the Facings team, the workshop would not have been possible.
